I am Mary Wangari

With over 33 years of experience, I am a seasoned corporate executive with expertise in management, strategy, leadership, and governance sitting on over ten different Boards of Directors. Before my promotion in 2018, I served as the Group Company Secretary and Corporate & Strategy Director of Equity Bank from 2007-2017. I joined Equity Bank in 2004 as the Head of Corporate Strategy & Head of Legal Services. At Equity Group Holdings PLC, I served as the Executive Director responsible for subsidiary oversight, governance, and leadership.

I had been a team leader in the bank on several strategic projects, including various investments, conversions, listings, acquisitions, loan contracts, mergers, and strategic planning I am involved in mentorship programmes for young women, career mentorship for professionals, sponsorships for bright but needy students, and environmental conservation. I am the founder of Equity Group’s Equip, a leadership and mentorship initiative designed to enhance Equity Group’s gender-equal working environment.
